Privacy Policy
EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT TO CONTACT
Effective Date: October 29th, 2024
This Privacy Policy explains how YourImmigrationAttorney.com (the “Site”) and Your Immigration Attorney PLLC (“we,” “us,” or the “Firm”) collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information. It applies to Site visitors, prospective clients, clients, and individuals who communicate with us. This Policy does not cover our personnel; it also does not alter any confidentiality obligations in a signed engagement agreement with a client.
1. Information We Collect
-
Identifiers & contact data: name, email, phone, postal address, preferred language, and similar identifiers.
-
Matter data & documentation: immigration category (e.g., family, employment, humanitarian), country of citizenship, immigration history (e.g., entries, statuses, decisions), government numbers/IDs (e.g., A‑Number, passport), dates, dependents, and facts you choose to share. Do not upload sensitive documents unless we request them via a secure channel.
-
Communications & recordings: emails, web forms, chats, and call or voicemail recordings (where permitted/with notice).
-
Payment information: if you pay online through our processor (we do not store full card numbers).
-
Internet/technical data: IP address, device and browser, referring pages, pages viewed, session metadata, and approximate location; cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
-
Inferences/analytics: interest segments or estimates derived from the above.
We collect information directly from you, automatically via the Site, and from service providers, referral partners, and public records where lawful.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: (a) respond to inquiries and evaluate potential representation (including conflicts checks); (b) provide, improve, and secure the Site and our services; (c) communicate about consultations, deadlines, filings, and updates; (d) send marketing or educational content (you can opt out); (e) comply with legal/professional obligations and enforce our Terms; and (f) de‑identify data for analytics and quality improvement.
3. Calls & Texts (TCPA/E‑SIGN Notice)
If you give us a telephone number or submit a form, you agree we may contact you by call or text about immigration matters and related services. Communications may use an autodialer and/or prerecorded/artificial voice. Message/data rates may apply; frequency varies; reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. You represent that you are the subscriber or customary user of the number provided. Consent is not a condition of obtaining legal services, and you may revoke consent at any time. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
4. Cookies, Analytics, and Online Tracking
We use first‑party and third‑party cookies and tools (e.g., analytics and performance cookies) to operate the Site, measure traffic, and improve user experience. You can manage cookies in your browser. Some browsers send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals; where legally required, we will treat recognized GPC signals as an opt‑out of certain tracking or “sharing” as defined by applicable law.
5. How We Share Information
We share information with:
-
Service providers/contractors (e.g., hosting, email/SMS, intake, analytics, payment processing, conflict checks) under agreements restricting use to our purposes.
-
Co‑counsel, experts, or translators with your direction or as reasonably necessary to evaluate or perform legal services.
-
Referral lawyers if you request or authorize a referral.
-
Authorities or other parties when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, clients, or the public.
-
Business transfers (e.g., reorganization).
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not “share” personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. If that changes, we will update this Policy and provide required choices.
6. Retention
We retain personal information as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal and professional obligations. As general guidance, prospect records (no engagement) are kept up to 24 months; client/matter files are typically kept 7–10 years after closure unless law or our engagement terms require a different period; site analytics are kept per vendor defaults or up to 26 months. We may keep de‑identified or archival copies longer.
7. Security
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information; no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account or data has been compromised, contact us immediately at 888 763 8472
8. Your U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state (e.g., CA/CO/CT/UT/VA), you may have rights to access/know, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of certain personal information, to opt out of targeted advertising or certain profiling, and to limit use/disclosure of sensitive personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights.
Call 888 763 8472. We will verify your identity and may request additional information. Authorized agents must provide proof of authorization. California residents may also request information about third‑party marketing (“Shine the Light”).
9. EEA/UK Individuals
If you are in the EEA/UK, our legal bases include consent, contract, legitimate interests (e.g., Site security, quality improvement), and legal obligations. Your data may be transferred to the U.S.; where required, we use appropriate safeguards. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object, and to data portability. Contact info@yourimmigrationattorney.com; you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect such data. If you believe a child provided information, contact us to delete it.
11. Third‑Party Links & Sites
Our Site may link to third‑party sites or services that we do not control; their practices are governed by their own policies.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. The “Effective Date” above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be posted on the Site.
